What have I been upto?
I’ve had a couple of quiet weeks with work, so been using this time to catch up. This week is largely the same – I’ve only got one contracted day in the calendar at the moment. I used to be a bit nervous about this, but it’s weirdly normal around the end of April I find. I’ve got enough to be getting on with, I think though I’d wish there’s a bit more.
So in that time last week, I had been catching up with client jobs, weirdly pesky things that had been hungover for the past few months. I had a potential client come in which is in one of those fields I like – so sent that proposal off.

Other than that I got close to my PB in Parkrun in Stretford last weekend. Frustratingly there was a queue towards the end – I think if that hadn’t been there I’d have probably have gotten close. Still, it’s a nice parkrun.

This week however hasn’t been great. On Friday I notice my laptop wasn’t charging, so a trip to the Genius Bar (the actual worst bar to find yourself in at 6pm on a Friday) got a diagnosis of a failing battery. That is going to be a few hundred quid to replace. Sure it’s tax deductable, but I’m more concerned with being without my laptop for 5-7 days whilst they fix it.
Other than that I’ve had a lot of takeaway food, which isn’t great, so been feeling a bit bloated in that regard. Between the bad food and the laptop issues, and the fact cricket has been rained off the past few weeks meaning I’ve been a bit off my game, means I’m not in the best mood at the moment. Sure I’ll pick myself up out of it.
What I have been enjoying?
I went to see Project Hail Mary last week, and I loved it. A feel good Sci-fi flick that I got so invested in. I think it has been my favourite film of the last 10 years – I can’t think of a film I enjoyed more the first time I watched it. Maybe Dallas Buyers Club, but this was light for a space disaster flick. Was fantastic. I would highly recommend seeing it. Loved loved loved it.
I also saw Wrestlemania 42 both nights. I mainly hate watched it as the last year’s wasn’t great and there was a chance this one – thanks to baffling decisions – would be even worse. So there was a chance of an all time bad Wrestlemania and – well – it wasn’t? Night one wasn’t great, but the second night was a lot more watchable. Night 2’s main event was very good and the whole show just popped along. Still was funny that the attendance was down given the price rises and the **gesiculates at the state of the world**. Too many adverts as well. Yay capitalism. I have been living vicariously through wrestling thanks to the Wrestle Me Podcasts, and would love to go back to Wrestlemania again. Been 10 years.
Other than that, watched Race Across the World and finished The Apprentice.
What is upcoming?
The weather doesn’t look too bad this week, so there’s a chance there’ll be a cricket match for me this week, which is needed. Other than that I’m off to Yorkshire next weekend for a cooking with embers class which I’m very much looking forward to. Finally, there’s MWUG this Friday so if you want to come along it’d be great to see you there!
