Hi,

My name's Rhys & I have been working as an internet marketer for the past 6 years, and it has been my day job for the last 4 years.

Part of my job is that I promote products (video games, computer software & membership websites), in the hope that if somebody buys or signs up through me, I get a little bit of money, the more people who sign up, the more money I get.

Many people I know are very good at this job, and use methods of promotion which don't decieve, however some people deceive others to get signups.

A good example are the "I LOL'D/LAUGHED/WAS SHOCKED WHEN I SAW THIS FACEBOOK STATUS UPDATE/PHOTO" pages on facebook.

They tell you to click the "Become a Fan" button, which is placed on the page below, something like this.

This can lead to an external website, which at best gets your email address if you fill in a form (usually they promise an iPod or an Xbox if you do), you will then be spammed constantly, and that isn't good!

It can also lead to viruses, browser hijacking (even if you type in a website address, you will visit another website) & all sorts of other nasty stuff, but I haven't seen anything like this...yet.

You should not need to sign up or "become a fan" of anything to see a photo or a status update, they should be within the page - such as clicking on the "Info" & "Photo" links on the site. Trust me, if the photos aren't there, then the chances are the page is set to deceive you.

So in other words, don't join!

If you have any questions or queries, please send me an email through a contact form on this page. Please note I don't have time to say if a fan page is good or bad, so assume a fan page of this nature is bad!

Thanks, and please do become a fan of this page page (click on the top "Become a Fan" button, not the bottom one) - not for me, just to tell your friends to be vigilant.

Happy Facebooking!

Rhys
